Powerful research partnerships.

For more than 30 years, Ecobat Solutions has actively engaged with researchers worldwide to improve the performance of lead batteries. To help expand our efforts, we became a founding member of the Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC), now known as the Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI).

Our first initiative was to engage with the Argonne National Laboratory and Ames Laboratory of the US Department of Energy. This work was undertaken through the Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA), which enable private industry to work with national laboratories.

This initial project led to a second initiative with Argonne, which was funded by 16 industry partners to continue enhancement of Pb battery performance. The results were used to create a design which has been put into production and attracts continuing interest from the Office of Electricity within the US Department of Energy. It has been incorporated into a grid energy storage program managed at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). In addition, as Ecobat is a major recycler with patents in Lithium-ion battery recycling, we are also pursuing a collaborative effort with Argonne for the recycling of Lithium batteries.

Ecobat Solutions has also been engaged with battery-related research at the University of North Texas, Michigan Technological University, Iowa State University, and the University of Texas—all recognized for their research prowess.

Ecobat is proud to collaborate with these highly regarded institutions:
